Unlimited SaGa is the first game from a much-loved series to come to PS2, and it is completely different from any other role-playing game you may have come across in recent years. This is largely due to the traditional techniques used for the graphics: the environments and backgrounds are all hand-drawn and hand-painted. Thereafter, they have been animated using a new technique called Sketch Motion. The result is an extremely unique graphic style that gives the game a hugely distinctive feel.

The plot is also innovative, and follows the adventures of seven different heroes as they search for the seven great threats. They in turn seek out a mysterious group of figures called the Seven Wonders. During the game, you play from each characters perspective and find out each persons personal motive for wanting to get hold of the villains.

Unlimited SaGa also introduces a number of news in the game flow, e.g. the Reel combat system which is an interface similar to a slot machine, where the player stops several spinning reels to activate various techniques. Thanks to the non-linear system Free Scenario System, open-ended adventures become possible.
