A story of revenge.
In 1986, young jujitsu fighter Ryo Hazuki returns to his fathers dojo, Iwao Hazuki, and witnesses his murder at the hands of a Chinese man, Lan Di. Lan Di steals a mysterious artifact known as the Dragon Mirror. Ryo vows to avenge his fathers death and sets out to find Lan Di.
Shenmue, the first game in the series, begins the story as Ryo travels through Yokosuka, Japan, gathering clues about his fathers death and dealing with nefarious gangsters along the way.
The Shenmue II sequel continues Ryos demand, this time crossing the sea to Hong Kong, China. Ryo ventures further into the criminal underworld, meeting martial arts masters who help him on his journey and give him information about his fathers death, and unravel the mysteries of the Dragon Mirror that his father had hidden.
