A Plague Tale: Innocence tells the story of a young Amicia girl and a little Hugo boy in the middle of France, torn by Black Death. The plague spread by rats causes suffering and death in the Kingdom of France, regardless of the size of the towns and villages. The ubiquitous epidemic particularly affects children, the elderly and other fragile people with the consequences of Katalin, and the ever-increasing hunger of rats does not seem to be over. Both animals and humans are left at the feet of the disease. But Amician?s unique fiery glow seems to keep the rats at bay.

The gloomy but atmospheric story of the two siblings on their way through medieval France is a unique combination of adventure, action, sneaking and character interaction. The rugged world behind the events, with its living people and events, is almost as important as Amicia along with her little brother Hugo.

Along with the black plague, France is being ravaged by the ecclesiastical Inquisition. Witch-hunts, suspicions caused by events, and people?s selfish motives create their own challenges to Amicia and Hugo?s survival story through the scarred land.
