Basically, Super Smash Bros. Brawl a fighting game, but with a number of different conditions. It is built with 3D graphics, but takes place entirely in 2D. You can therefore not move in depth (more than small temporary evasive maneuvers) but only laterally. And instead of just being two people fighting, you can in Super Smash Bros. Brawl be four! Another important difference to traditional fighting games is that in Super Smash Bros. Brawl spends a lot of time in the air. Also, items play a big role in the game and the damage meter is measured in percentages. The higher the percentage you have, the easier it is to get out of a scam. Going out, you ask?

Perhaps this is precisely what sets Super Smash Bros. Brawl mostly from traditional fighting games. Namely, you dont win by reducing the opponents energy, but by knocking the opponent out of the arena. Of course, the different arenas are very variable, and on some courses you can go out very quickly, while on other courses it can take forever before someone loses. The damage meter is displayed as a percentage and the more hits you take, the higher the percentage. If you have 0%, you basically cannot be knocked out, if you have 200%, a light attack is often enough to be knocked out.

If you know your Nintendo history, theres a lot to learn in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The game is packed full of curiosities and figures that have appeared in the last 25 years. If you want to see a presentation of all the characters, visit Smash Bros. Dojo!!, you will find the link at the top of this page.

The new adventure in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is called The Subspace Emissary. This is a neat adventure with both alternate paths, lots of secret passages, and six to eight hours of gameplay. Most of the enemies in The Subspace Emissary are completely new, which gives the game a breath of fresh air as most of it is, after all, taken from Nintendos archives. The variety is good, even if the last courses feel rough and unnecessary. However, The Subspace Emissary is completely superior to Adventure Mode in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl can be played online against friends or against the world. Up to four players can participate in the same match, but there are no leaderboards. Nintendo chose them out because everyone should be able to join in and play, without seeing themselves far behind all the time. It is also possible to play with a friend in game modes such as Home Run Contest (inflicting as much damage on a sandbag as possible before knocking it away).

Record matches, build your own courses and take pictures Super Smash Bros. Brawl gives you the ability to record matches of up to three minutes. These recorded matches are saved either to the Wii consoles system memory or to an SD card, and can then be sent to your friends via WiiConnect24!

Not satisfied with all the tracks already in the game? Build your own! You can choose from a large variety of parts (you unlock more by playing more) and when the track is complete you can send it to friends via WiiConnect24. You can also let Nintendo take part in the course, and if you are skilled at making courses, your course may be posted on Nintendos servers so that all other Super Smash Bros. Brawl owners see it!

Super Smash Bros. While Brawl has simple basics that are easy to learn, the game has incredible depth where you as a player can play for thousands of hours and constantly improve.
