In Whistleblower, you play Waylon Park, a software engineer under contract with Murkoff and the man who at the beginning of Outlast emailed journalists around the world, Miles included. During his stay on Mount Massive, where he was not even allowed to talk to his wife and son thanks to strict safety protocols, Waylon developed a deep-seated distrust of the profit-driven scientists and doctors who led the dangerous and irresponsible experiments on their patients. Waylons compassion for the poor souls caused his anger to flare up and led to his exposure of the rotten interior of Mount Massive.

Although Whistleblower tells the story that led up to Outlast, it spans the events from the first game to the last chapter in the story of Mount Massives mental institution.
