The young owl Soren marvels at his fathers grandiose tales of the mythical winged warriors Guardians of GaHoole, who fought a great battle to save the entire owl genus from the wicked who call themselves the Genuine. When Soren and his brother Kludd fall down from the tree in which they live and end up in the clutches of the Real, Soren is forced to try a bold escape with the help of other brave owls. Together they search for the Big Tree, where the Guardians live. It is their only hope to be able to win over the Real and save the owl kingdoms.
